How To Change Your Life + Why You've Kept Failing

I'd been dabbling in this manifestation for a while, with minimal success. Believing I had unlocked my limiting beliefs and was healing my wounded child by doing daily journal prompts from Pinterest. Damn, I was wrong. That only scratched the surface. As soon as that 30-day journal prompt was finished, and I was back to my old habits.

I didn't get to the core of my issues.

I wanted more. I wanted to understand. I wanted to succeed. I wanted to find my purpose.

It was February 28 and I couldn't sleep. The moon was shining bright in my room as I watched my clock turn to 12:01 am. Another month passed, and I still was being lazy with myself. I was still failing in my personal development goals.

I was struggling. My mind was in hyper-drive. I couldn't get over myself so that I could find myself.

Have you been there?

6 am rolled around without any sleep. Weary and heavy-footed, I stumbled to the coffee maker. My kitchen was dim. No morning light, just a heavy, misty fog. I opened the back door and listened to the wind and the bird chirps. I took a deep breath, and it was like something zinged right through me. My spine straightened. Enough is enough.

Most Personal Development goals fail because you are making it all about YOU. Personal Development is not only about you. You have to have something bigger to focus on—you need to focus on others.

Yup. You read that right. Your personal development isn't just for you... it’s for others too. Yes, you've got to do the inner work, come to terms with childhood trauma, limiting beliefs, and more. But, along that journey, you must never lose sight of the reason you are doing this. Your why. Your purpose.

Want to guarantee success? Look beyond yourself.

Your journey in personal development will not only change your life, but it will help you inspire others to change theirs.

I am currently reading Claim Your Power by Mastin Kipp. A 40-day journey to help you thrive in your life's unique purpose. On Day 11, we did this activity to help us find our purpose statement. We wrote down some of our first memories and then described what emotion was tied to them.

I began to see what I was always searching for—the emotions I was always chasing. I saw the patterns and the fog slowly lifted.

We wrote out our purpose statement. It was just two sentences. The first was focused on you. The second was focused on others.

YUP! Personal development isn't only about you aiming to live an extraordinary life. It's about helping others do the same.

So what's my purpose statement?

The purpose of my life is to find adventure & be content with myself and feel the freedom that results while inspiring others to feel the same.

It all made sense. I get giddy supporting my friends and peers. I love an adventure of any kind. I want to feel content with myself and in my life. I love watching people go after their goals and succeed. This is all my shot of serotonin, my dopamine.

Your purpose is meant to be shared. Stop hoarding it. Start sharing it.
